Hii King Chiong : To Fulfil The Needs Of Local People And Ensure The Best Education For All
24.05.2015--Miri Foochow Association vice chairman Dato Hii King Chiong said that Datuk Ling Suk Kiong is not only a familiar Foochow figure but also a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist who makes huge contributions to charity, welfare, education, religion, societies and associations.
He pointed out that it was ideal to elect Ling as the association leader and called on the committee and members to give him full support and cooperation and work together towards success in goals.
Hii made the statements in his speech during the installation ceremony of newly elected committee of the association, youth, women and senior section for 2015-2016 cum senior appreciation event.
Also the board chairman of Miri Resort City Kindergarten, Hii said that the establishment of the kindergarten was a delight to fellow Foochows and a long-term commitment towards a common goal in national education development.
He added that as Miri residents, they will give unconditional support in working towards the vision of developing Miri city into an education hub.
8 years ago when Hii was chairman of Miri Foochow Association, the responsibility of construction of the kindergarten was entrusted to him and association committee by two fellow veterans, ie honorary life chairman Wong Yuk Choo and Ling Kwong Yu. Without their support and initiative, there will be no resort city kindergarten today.
He said that the application for construction, recruitment of staff, enrolment of students and opening of kindergarten were carefully executed. Huge construction funds, recruitment and selection of staff, maintenance of school and administrative supervision were performed by professional education workers and a team formed by the association committee.
Hii said that he was grateful to fellow Foochows and Soon Hup Group chairman Datuk Ting Ong Hua for their understanding, generosity and contribution to ease the financial burden of the kindergarten in 6 years. Students were fewer in the early years and administrative expenses were a commitment. However, the school had already achieved a break-even starting this year.
He revealed that the school needs continuing support from fellow Foochows and the public. The kindergarten is open to all children regardless of race and ethnicity. The number of students increases every year and there is consideration in establishing a primary school.
Hii stated that in providing education services, there is no turning back but only moving forward to fulfil the needs of the people and coordinate with national education development policy to ensure the best education for all.
He also encouraged parents to send their children to Miri Resort City Kindergarten as it is the best place to receive elementary education.
