Hii Inspects Drains, Upgrading Project Approved

19.04.2016--The upgrading project involving a 487-metre drain that will cost RM500,000 has been approved and is expected to start after the state election.

Direct Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Pujut Dato Hii King Chiong, together with his team members, today made an inspection visit to review the drainage problems at Lorong 1D, Piasau Jaya Fasa Satu. He said the drain had not been repaired since the past three elections (more than 15 years).

Residents said that the cracked and clogged drains had often caused flash floods and complaints made to the authorities went unanswered.

The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Miri-Bintulu divisional engineer Law Wee said the upgrading project proposal submitted by his department to the government had been approved and the project would commence immediately once the department received the allocation. The allocation is expected to be received after the state election.
