Hii King Chiong Hopes Younger Generation Continues To Promote Tradition Of Respecting Elders

13.06.2015--The Honorary Life Advisor of Miri Division Koh Yang Xu Clan Association Dato Hii King Chiong hoped that the younger generation continues to promote the fine tradition of respecting their elders. Various programs and activities can be organised to promote relationship among members.

Guest-of-honour Hii made the statements in his speech during the 23rd Founding Anniversary Celebration of Miri Division Koh Yang Xu Clan Association, 12th Anniversary Celebration of Women, Youth & Senior Section and Parents Appreciation Night.

He said the history of clan and family names is an important trait of Chinese history and culture. Its complete record boasts a long history with interesting facts and culture.

“We understand that family name is essential to trace ancestry and look back at history. More importantly, it also promotes affiliation and strength for a greater future.”

Hii explained that clan association is a kinship organisation and ‘blood is thicker than water’ in Xu Clan. He hoped the association committee will prioritise relationship regardless of ethnicity and religion in all association matters for the benefit of all members.
