Miri Photographic Society Visits Honorary Life Advisor Dato Hii King Chiong
24.01.2015--Following Miri Photographic Society’s 42nd committee election for Year 2015-2016 on 18 January 2015, newly elected president Mr Sylvester Wong Sin Hee and committee members visited Honorary Life Advisor Dato Hii King Chiong.
Sylvester said it had been the usual practice for newly elected president and committee to visit the advisors. The meeting with Hii was mainly to inform him on the latest activities of Miri Photographic Society.
Miri Photographic Society invited Hii as guest-of honour to its inauguration ceremony and Chinese New Year Gathering on 15 March 2015.
The meeting was filled with joyful conversation and laughter. Hii also suggested that apart from shooting photos of Miri tourist attractions, portraits, sunrise, sunset etc., members should consider other themes.
He strongly recommended shooting photos of insects and natural environment in places such as the rainforest at Piasau Nature Reserve Miri.
Hii said that Piasau Nature Reserve Miri has a lot of different species of birds, squirrels, wild boars, reptiles and insects. Photography enthusiasts should make full use of the natural surroundings and rich forests to enhance photography skills as well as promote the scenic nature.
He hoped Miri Photographic Society will promote the local natural places and tourist attractions on the international stage through photography. This will attract more photography enthusiasts to visit Miri and will promote local tourism as well.
Hii hoped that one day Miri Photographic Society can organise exhibitions and cultural exchanges in the art of photography.
He congratulated the newly elected president and committee members and called upon them to always be grateful and to keep in touch with the former president and committee members for mutual support and encouragement.
