UPP Branches Give Full Support To Hii King Chiong

15.04.2016--Dato Hii King Chiong resigned from United People’s Party (UPP) and will stand in Pujut as direct Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate. Four branches of UPP in Miri have pledged their full support to Hii.

In accordance with the legal and technical requirements of the BN constitution, Hii had to resign from UPP as he was nominated by state BN chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem as direct BN candidate for Pujut. Christopher Sim has taken over as UPP Piasau acting chairman.

Sim said although Dato Hii King Chiong had resigned from UPP, party members still regard him as party leader.

He added that as a BN friendly party, UPP has also set up an election action committee to give support and campaign for Hii.

He said apart from supporting Hii, they will also support BN candidates of the other two constituencies.

UPP Senadin chairman councillor Keith Chin expressed his gratitude to the chief minister for nominating Dato Hii King Chiong for Pujut. Chin and his UPP Senadin branch members have pledged to give full support to BN.

Chin said they would hold a brief meeting with UPP central committee to discuss the campaign work.

He said that UPP Piasau, Pujut and Senadin had been working very hard to serve the people.

He explained that Majulah Miri has served the people for nearly five years and hoped to be given the opportunity to help the people for another five years.

UPP Pujut chairman councillor Bruce Chai said Hii’s move to Pujut constituency would not be an issue because he had always been serving the people all over this city.

He reiterated that all members of the four branches of UPP in Miri namely Piasau, Pujut, Senadin and Bekenu branch would render full support to Dato Hii King Chiong to ensure his victory in the upcoming state election.
