Hii King Chiong Assists In Extension Of Surau In Desa Senadin And Application Of Land
21.05.2015--Majulah Miri leader Dato Hii King Chiong today promised to provide assistance in the extension of a surau in Desa Senadin and application of land to build a new surau.
The prayer hall of the small surau in Desa Senadin was always overcrowded and its committee representatives today requested Majulah Miri to assist in the extension of the surau and also application of land to build a new surau.
Hii said that the extension project would commence immediately the following day and hoped for its completion before the forthcoming Hari Raya as he could not bear to see Muslim friends crowding in the small prayer hall.
At the same time, he also said that Majulah Miri will help with the request of the surau committee to bring up application to the state government for a piece of land to build a new surau.
Surau chairman Haji Abdullah disclosed that the surau was rented for the purpose of daily prayers of local residents.
He revealed that the surau committee had repeatedly sought assistance from local leaders and elected representatives in the application of land for more than ten years but to no avail. They turned to community service centre Majulah Miri for help in the hope that the problems will be solved.
Haji Abdullah said that the existing rented unit could only accommodate about 40 people and was very crowded. “We had sought help from local leaders to assist with its extension and also application of land to build a new surau but so far there has been no response.”
He said that they merely requested for two lots of land to build a surau to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers every year. The extension would only solve the problem temporarily and they would eventually need a piece of land to build a new surau.
He hoped that Majulah Miri would help apply for land to build a new surau for the purpose of daily prayers and other activities. In addition, many residents including some members of United Traditional Bumiputera Party or Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) who were present today expressed dissatisfaction as to why the appeals for help over many years were ignored.
