Hii King Chiong : Majulah Miri Aims To Solve Problems Of The People With No Political Motives

31.05.2015--Community service centre Majulah Miri leader Dato Hii King Chiong said that success depends on the total commitment and joint effort of a team rather than an individual.

Hii told the media during his meeting today with the exco-committee of Sarawak Government Pensioners Association (PPKS) Miri branch that Majulah Miri is always ready and sincere to help those in need to the best of its ability, regardless of location and with no political motives.

He was deeply concerned with the state of disrepair of the PPKS Miri branch office and hoped that the state government and elected representatives will seriously look into and solve livelihood problems of the people so that they can enjoy a better living environment.

“PPKS Miri branch office which is located at Piasau Camp is an important venue for association members to mix and mingle. It deserves the attention and care from elected representatives and state government. Hari Raya is just around the corner and I cannot bear to see these elder members wait for another 14 years. Therefore, I’ve decided to assist and bear the repair costs so that they can enjoy an improved meeting place.”

Hii said that since establishment, Majulah Miri has always been giving assistance to improve the lives of people without expecting anything in return. Although some people misunderstood the sincere services of Majulah Miri, they never feel discouraged because they are merely doing their parts according to the community service centre’s service philosophy. The improvement in the lives of people is the best encouragement and reward for Majulah Miri.

“Some people might see me as a public figure but as a matter of fact, I, Hii King Chiong, am an ordinary Sarawakian just like you all. Since we belong to the same state, we should support and assist one another instead of making untrue accusations about others and selfishly care only for one’s own interests.”

Hii emphasised that the progress of local development and improvement in the lives of people depend very much on the joint efforts of all parties rather than an individual or an organisation. If everyone can put aside their differences and focus on serving the people, Miri is definitely a paradise to live and work in.

He urged aspiring young people to join the big family of Majulah Miri. He also hoped that everyone can promote selflessness and make safeguarding the people’s interests their ultimate goal.
