Hii King Chiong : PIBAKIS New Centre To Provide Quality Learning Environment
14.12.2014--Dato Hii King Chiong, the chairman of the building committee of Community-based Rehabilitation Centre or Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Miri’s PIBAKIS new centre, said it is a social responsibility to provide special children with better learning space. As long as we can uphold the spirit of caring society, nothing is impossible.
Hii told the reporters after the donation handover ceremony by Miri Musical Society, “The purpose of the PIBAKIS new centre is to give the special children a much better learning environment. We hope that under the meticulous care of professionals and volunteers, they will walk their lives courageously for a better tomorrow.”
He thanked the local community for their support and care towards the building of PIBAKIS new centre. Although the building fund was still short of RM2.4 million, he believed the new centre will overcome all difficulties and ultimately be completed with strong support from the community.
Hii stressed that special children are not social burdens. We should not see them as different from others. We should give them whole-hearted assistance to light up their lives and encourage them to walk their journey of life with a strong positive attitude.
He hoped that parents of special children can be open-minded instead of being shy or fear of social pressure at the expense of their children’s future. PDK was established to assist them. Hii pointed that PDK is a charitable organisation founded to help special children regain hope and improve their learning abilities. Love, care and support from the kind-hearted people at rehabilitation centres, together with the efforts of parents shall ensure better growth and future of the children.
He expressed satisfaction with the current construction progress and appealed to good-hearted people to continue giving full support. This would ensure the construction to be completed as soon as possible and consequently the better learning environment for the children.
Miri Musical Society, with its laudable effort in giving back to the community, today handed over RM80,000 donation to PDK as building fund for the PIBAKIS new centre.
Miri Musical Society recently organised the ‘President PBK Hii Teck Yun Elite Chinese Singing Charity Challenge Cup’ and ‘Chairman Ting Pang Soon Elite Children Chinese Singing Challenge Cup’ to promote social harmony and unity through singing competition as well as to raise fund for the construction of PIBAKIS new centre as part of its charity efforts.
The musical society successfully raised RM80,000 donation for building fund from the generous community. The donation was handed over to PIBAKIS Miri president Chiam Yun Chaw and the ceremony was witnessed by Dato Hii King Chiong, chairman of the building committee.
Under close supervision of the building committee, the PIBAKIS new centre had reached 68% completion and was scheduled to be fully completed by July 2015.
The construction of the upper floor of the new centre was in active progress. Roofing materials were delivered a few days ago. There will be a beam raising ceremony later this month to be officiated by Dato Hii King Chiong.
