Majulah Miri Dato & Datin Hii King Chiong Go Gawai Dayak Visiting

01.06.2015--United People’s Party (UPP) Piasau chairman and Majulah Miri founder Dato Hii King Chiong together with his wife Datin and UPP members went Gawai Dayak visiting to Kampung Merikan Tiga, Kampung Pasir and Kampung Sealine in Lutong yesterday.

Hii was accompanied by UPP Senadin chairman councillor Keith Chin, UPP Pujut chairman councillor Bruce Chai, UPP Bekenu chairman Penghulu Haw Min Wai, UPP Senadin chairperson Suzanne Lee, councillors, UPP committee members and Majulah Miri team members.

35 squatter families of Kampung Merikan Tiga Lutong yesterday handed over land application forms to Hii for UPP to make application to The Land and Survey Department.

Earlier, 48 families of the kampung had successfully obtained approval of The Land and Survey Department through the assistance of UPP and Majulah Miri and would probably get a land in Tudan resettlement area.

In conjunction with Gawai Dayak festival, the residents held a grand Gawai Dayak celebration and prepared sumptuous traditional Dayak food and tuak to treat VIPs and guests. The celebration venue was full of Barisan Nasional (BN) and UPP flags.

The residents made and displayed a banner which read “WE FULLY SUPPORT UPP PIASAU CHAIRMAN DATO HII KING CHIONG”, and welcomed the visiting guests with the grandest Dayak miring ceremony.

At the function, Ketua Kampung Bunyau Suda handed over a total of 83 residents’ information for land application purpose. Among those, 48 families had earlier obtained approval from The Land and Survey Department pending assignment of area.
