Residents Approach Hii King Chiong For Help To Solve Pujut Road Woe

26.06.2015--Incomplete road infrastructure in Pujut 1A often caused accidents. Residents have approached United People’s Party (UPP) Piasau chairman and Majulah Miri founder Dato Hii King Chiong for his assistance to refer the problem to the local council.

Hii, together with UPP Pujut chairman councillor Bruce Chai, UPP Senadin chairman councillor Keith Chin and councillor Sim Poh Giap, today paid a visit to Pujut 1A resident Soo Mei Kong to further understand the situation.

Soo said that the road was a two-way lane but the middle section strangely narrowed into a single lane with weeds covering a small drain of about 270 feet long by the roadside.

“There were incidents at night when two opposing vehicles met and one thought the hidden drain was a road and accidentally drove into the drain.”

Soo said he has been living in the area since 1989 and users have been urging the authority to expand the road but to no avail. Therefore, he turned to seek help from Majulah Miri and hoped that Hii could assist to solve the infrastructure problem for the sake of users’ safety.

He added that he could think of no one else other than Hii to provide the assistance.

Hii promised that he would check with Miri City Council to look into and solve the problem.
