25.01.13-- Miri City Council (MCC) Mayor Cr Lawrence Lai this morning invited Mr Hii King Chiong to participate in their site visit program to various areas within the city.
Among the areas their visited were Tamu Pujut Corner, Desa Pujut 2 housing scheme, Lutong Market and Kpg Merikan.
The main objective of the visit is to witness the progress works on projects implemented by MCC, with the co - ordination of Hii King Chiong Service Centre (HKC SC).
Beside, it was aimed to receive feedback regarding problems faced by hawkers and the community at large.
“We are thankful to MCC and HKC SC who has helped the hawkers here. Now we have a better and comfortable place to trade. It’s profitable and our daily income has increase alot”, disclosed Hj Said Pengiran Puit, a senior hawker when asked to comment on MCC and HKC SC proactive attitudes.
Later Mr Hii entourage visited a complainant, Mr Philip Sidadum in Desa Pujut 2, Permyjaya.He urged MCC to act on the complaints he made regarding the bad condition of the road in front his house.
Meanwhile, residents of Jalan Greenville in Kpg Merikan also urged MCC and HKC SC to resurface the road along Jalan Greenville and upgrade the drainage system within the housing area.
According to one resident, Mr Lim Kai Yi, flash floods will occur due to the improper drainage system.
He disclosed, “Since 15 years ago flash floods occur frequently and we have forward our problem to the relevant authorities but no positive action has been taken. Few days ago we contacted Mr Hii and express our problem. We are glad on his willingness to visit us and willing to solve our problem”.
MCC with HKC SC assistance will look into the issue and instant action will be carried out immediately.
Also included in the morning entourage were Cr Lawrence Kong, Cr Keith Chin, Cr Hjh Lela Muhamad, Cr Hjh Khadijah Hj Muip, MCC senior officers and members of HKC SC.
