Tudan Phase 5 - Desa Pujut Bridge
15.04.13--“The community service that Hii King Chiong Service Centre (HKC SC) carried out has nothing to do with the next general election. Whether I was nominated as candidate or not our services will still maintained. I will continue helping the Miri community, both the Chinese and the Bumiputera. I did this quest not to get praise or to become the people‘s elected representative but I do this noble efforts is to help the Miri communities,” explained local philanthropist, Mr.Hii King Chiong when asked by reporters regarding the rumors that claimed he would be nominated for the Miri parliamentary seat.
He joked and he further said, “if we want to be a candidate we must have a good position in the party or in the government body. We must have a strong ‘cable’ and most important, the people want us to be their representative. It's useless if we eager to be the representative but in reality the people reject us ".
Mr Hii who was also the founder of HKC SC was speaking to reporters during his site visit to the newly installated bailey bridge linking Tudan Phase 5 and Desa Pujut,Permyjaya this afternoon.
His presence to the site is to witness the developments progress of the bridge which was jointly undertaken by Public Works Department (PWD), Miri City Council (MCC), the Residents Committee of Tudan Phase 4 & 5 and HKC SC.
The ground breaking ceremony was held in early last month and the construction works started a few days ago.
According to PWD Assistant Divisional Engineer, Mr Ting Sie Lok who also accompanied En.Hii later explained that a total of 14 skilled ‘bailey’ bridge specialists from Kuching were given the responsibility to build the bridge. The construction of the new bridge is expected to be completed in two weeks.
Mr Hii was also accompanied by Cr Keith Chin, Pekida Miri Chairman, Mr. Sarbini Japar, residents Tudan Phase 5 & Desa Pujut and the local media.
