Tolerance And Togetherness, The Key To Achieve Greater Success
01.01.13. - As most of the people around the globe were enjoying their New Year holiday with families but for Mr Hii King Chiong and his dedicated team, they preferred to fulfill their holiday by visiting village‘s community around Lutong area in their “meets ~the ~ people ”session.
Firstly on the list, they visited Kampung Api ~Api, a squatters village with a population of almost 1,080 people consisting of 260 families and most of them were Iban.
The arrival of Mr Hii‘s entourage were given a warm welcome by the villagers headed by their village chief Mr Manchang Ak Aking and also its JKKK Chairman, Mr Joseph Suka.
The “meet ~the ~people” session which was aimed to strengthen relationship and to promote goodwill between Hii King Chiong Service Center and the village community was also attended by Miri City Council‘s councilors and Mr Hii strong supporters.
This program was also held in conjunction with the New Year celebration and the visitors were later served with delicious foods and drinks.
“On behalf of my people, I'm very grateful Mr Hii was very helpful to us. Since staying here for nearly 30 years, we have been left behind from the main stream of developments. We face a lot of problems but the relevant authorities does not willing to care about our interest. Now we are very happy and thankful because Mr Hii is willing to serve us better. We cannot rely on the present Yb’s as they only give promises but never delivered. Now we need someone that really do the works and we, the people of Kampung Api ~ Api give our full support to Mr Hii”, expressed Mr Joseph Suka in his short welcoming speech which also received a moral support from his people.
After Kampung Api ~ Api, Mr Hii entourage later proceed to Kampung Merikan 3, Kampung Pasir Simpang 3 & Simpang 4 before their visting programme concluded at Kampung Sealine. At these villages, En.Hii was also treated with a warm welcome and served with a variety of
local delights.
In responding to several additional requests from the villagers from the five villages, “whichever we can assist, we will provide them all the assistance but let us do it one at a time. Our priority is the one who really needs our help”, he assured and later wished the New Year will bring prosperity to all the community.
During the ”meet ~ the ~people” session in Kampung Pasir Simpang 3, Mr Hii announced that he agreed to rebuilt and upgrade the plank walk in the village.
It was reported that the villagers had forwarded their requests to the relevant authorities but to date nothing had been done. Mr Hii promised that the rebuilding works will start soon and will be completed within a period of two to three weeks time.
“In my last Christmas visit here, Mr Jabat Ak Barak has request me to rebuilt the unsafe planks walk and I said I will look into it. As a New Year gift to them, I agree to rebuilt and finance the whole project. This is what we call “janji ditepati” in which we response instantly. We are looking at the safety of the users especially the young children”, Mr Hii said and later given a big applause from the villagers.
Meanwhile the coordinator of Hii & Chin Service Center, Cr Keith Chin urged the villagers to uphold the spirit of tolerance and togetherness.
“We will only achieve greater success if we uphold the spirit of tolerance and togetherness because with such spirit nobody can ruin our mission”, he urged.
Also accompanied Mr Hii visiting programme were RTM Miri broadcasting unit and several reporters.

Mr Hii was given the honour to wear the Iban traditional warrior dress by Kpg Merikan 3 village chief Mr Bunyau Ak Sula.

Kpg Pasir Simpang 4 JKKK‘s chairman En.Layang Ak Ikui (left), single mum Mrs Magdaline Ak Rancha and senior citizen Mr Rancha Ak Assam were the key players in making Mr Hii “meet~the ~people” session a success.A total of 100 village folks attended they gathering which was held at the village civic hall.

“The villagers of Kpg Sealine and nearby areas are all behind u and we will ensure this spirit will last forever”, disclosed En Sayieng Ak Wet, a representative of Kpg Sealine.90% of the village's multi purpose hall renovations cost was financed by Mr Hii.
