UPP to rise to the challenges and serve the people

2.10.2014--Dato Hii King Chiong has called for unityand collective strength in the common fight for the benefits of all Sarawakians.

Hii, the liaison person in setting up United People’s Party (UPP) Northern Region and the protem chairman of UPP Piasau branch, explained that UPP  is formed to draw together social elites, integrate common political philosophy and serve the people.

He clarified his reason in joining UPP as an additional platform for him to serve the people, in addition to the service centres that he has set up to provide services to the people in need.

“Under the flagship of UPP, we shall bring together the opinions of the people. Step by step, we must be committed in upholding the Rules of Law, striving for the rights and interests of the people, implementing inclusive politics, building harmonious society and strengthening the dignity of the people as the basic guidelines. The United People’s Party welcomes all who share and believe in our political ideology and pursuits, men and women, to join us.”

Hii said that Sarawak politics has entered a new phase oftransformation. He noted that the Chinese communities aregradually keeping away from the country’s political mainstreamand generally feeling the negative phenomena, which is upsetting and worrying.

“I appeal to all of you to put aside your personal animosities in our common fight for the benefits of the people of Sarawak. We will bravely face the people persevering ‘You complain, I solve’, honestly serve the people, strive towards the common target in ‘Putting People First’, establish a ‘Confident Political Culture’ and make effort together with political partners of different platforms to cater to the needs of the people.”

“Barisan Nasional is a big political family, representing leaderships from various ethnics, groups and people from all community classes.” He added that Barisan Nasional must continue to strengthen its coalition and not refuse political parties that are willing to join the coalition and serve the people."
