Datuk Ling Suk Kiong Donates RM150,000 To PDK As Building Fund For New Centre

17.12.2014--Datuk Ling Suk Kiong, the adviser of Community-based Rehabilitation Centre or Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Miri, today handed over RM150,000 to PDK as building fund for its new centre.

PIBAKIS Miri president Chiam Yun Chaw said that the construction had reached 68% completion. Construction of walls was in progress and roofing materials were delivered a few days ago. The building committee will hold a beam raising ceremony in January 2015 and had invited the adviser Datuk Ling Suk Kiong and the chairman of the building committee Dato Hii King Chiong to officiate the event.

PDK Miri was founded back in 9 June 2000 as a social care institute and non-profit organisation. The centre has more than 200 special children from various ethnic groups and 22 full-time counsellors.

The PIBAKIS new centre is built primarily for the welfare of members and children. It is specifically constructed and designed to meet various needs of special children.

The two-storey multipurpose RM5-million PIBAKIS new centre has extensive facilities which include a general office, kitchen, dining room, multipurpose hall, 10 classrooms, a conference room, a medical room, a snoozeleen room, a physiotherapy room, a counselling room, a craft room, an IT/lecture room, a committee room, a store, a toy library and other facilities (if necessary).

The new centre aims to train and equip people with learning disabilities (PLD) with basic vocational skills that enable them to get full or part-time jobs and be independent in the future.
