Dato Hii King Chiong Attends Beam Raising Ceremony Of PDK’s PIBAKIS New Centre
29.01.2015--Community-based Rehabilitation Centre or Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Miri’s PIBAKIS new centre held the beam raising ceremony at 3:00pm today to mark the construction entering its final stage and was officiated by the chairman of the building committee Dato Hii King Chiong.
The construction of the PIBAKIS new centre was in full swing and reached 75% completion.
The RM5-million PIBAKIS new centre was built on one-acre land in Lutong and was located at Lot 3354 Block 3, adjacent to SMK Lutong. Construction was in full swing since the groundbreaking ceremony on 26 April 2014. The project was originally scheduled to be concluded by July 2015 but the contractor later assured that they can complete it by June 2015.
Chairman of the building committee Dato Hii King Chiong said that the building fund was still short of RM2.15 million and hoped that kind-hearted people or organisations will donate generously towards the building fund.
Hii officiated the beam raising ceremony of the PIBAKIS new centre and spoke to the media afterwards.
He appealed to all sectors of the public to give full support and assistance to ensure the early completion of the new centre.
“One person’s strength is not enough. Miri community is full of passion and we must work together to provide support and assistance to ensure early completion of the new centre.” Meanwhile, he also said that parents must not feel inferior in having special children nor hide them at home.
Hii believed with generous donations from kind-hearted philanthropists, the PIBAKIS new centre will definitely be completed as scheduled. The children can then live in a modern and complete rehabilitation centre, enjoy comfortable environment and get good care.
The two-storey multipurpose PIBAKIS new centre with built-up area of approximately 21,000 square feet will house extensive facilities on the ground floor which include a general office, kitchen, dining room, multipurpose hall, a physiotherapy room, a craft room and 7 classrooms; and first floor which include a conference room, a medical room, a counselling room, an IT/lecture room, a toy library, a committee room, 3 classrooms, a store and other multipurpose rooms. Once completed, the new centre will provide special children with comfortable environment to learn basic vocational skills that enable them to get full or part-time jobs and be independent in the future.
