United People’s Party (UPP) Passionately Visits Three Charitable Organisations In Celebration Of Chinese New Year

28.02.2015--In celebration of Chinese New Year, the four branches of United People’s Party (UPP) Miri, along with Sarawak Hong Teck Dragon & Lion Dance Association Miri, today visited the Miri Community-based Rehabilitation Centre or Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Miri, Miri Home For The Aged Care Centre and Miri Methodist Children’s Home.

United People’s Party (UPP) Piasau branch chairman Dato Hii King Chiong led the visit and was accompanied by UPP Pujut branch chairman councillor Bruce Chai, UPP Senadin branch chairman councillor Keith Chin, UPP Bekenu branch chairman Penghulu Haw Min Wai, political secretary to the chief minister Suzanne Lee Tze Ha and many others.

Hii today told reporters that the visits to the three local charitable organisations and the dragon and lion dance performances were to encourage fine traditional Chinese culture, bring joys to the disadvantaged groups (that they are not alone), promote social exchanges and be a part of social charity.

He said that whether it is ‘Majulah Miri’ team or UPP, both were founded for the same purpose - take care of the needs of the people and disadvantaged groups, improve their standard of living and fight for their interests and welfare.

He said that although Sarawak Hong Teck Dragon & Lion Dance Association Miri had just been founded at the end of last year, it had established a good reputation and received great compliments under the leadership of the head of association Mr. Tay Choon Wei.

Hii appealed to all UPP members to put people first, care for their needs and make efforts to the best of their abilities to assist those who need help.

He also hoped PDK, Miri Home For The Aged Care Centre and Miri Methodist Children’s Home will continue to receive support and care so that the elderly and children will always enjoy a better tomorrow.
