A Better Place For Better Earning.

20.12.12--Traders at the Pasar Malam Saberkas will enjoyed a better environment when the RM400,000.00 roofing project completed soon. The good news was announced by Miri City Mayor (MCC), Cr Lawrance Lai this morning who was accompanied by Mr.Hii King Chiong on their site visit to various locations around the city.

Cr Lawrance said that MCC received requests from traders requesting the Pasar Malam to be roofed but due to limited funds their request has been turn down. The roofing project came alight when prominent businessman and pioneer of Hii King Chiong Service Centre (HKC SC), Mr.Hii King Chiong willing to assist in getting the fund.

"We received many request from the traders but we can't afford to please them. We have no fund and the project cost is beyond our capability. I was informed that many such requests was forwarded to the people's representative but no further action was taken. We are glad to hear that Mr.Hii is
willing to assist us", he expressed.

According to Cr Lawrance, the RM400,000.00 roofing project includes all basic facilities and will highlight an Arabian style canopy. As at the moment they are almost 200 active Pasar Malam traders and MCC will install 36 standard size canopies. With the new look, traders and customers will enjoy a better place to fulfill their weekend holidays.

"We, HKC SC heard their plight. We feel we are capable. We are willing to work together and support MCC. We came in not to indicates that we have everything, we came in is just because we want to help the people and the community", Mr.Hii said when asked to elaborate on his proactive roles on
the issue.

The roofing project was divided into two phase and the first phase will be completed before year end while the second phase is expected to be completed in January 2013.

Also accompanying MCC and Mr.Hii site visits were Cr Lawrance Kong, Cr Keith Chin, Cr Hjh. Lela Mohamad, MCC Engineer Chai Koh Het, MCC senior officers, PBB Pujut Branch Chairman Mr.Abu Bakar Hj.Amit, PBB Piasau Branch Youth Chief Mr.Affendi Jawawi, PBB Senadin Branch Youth Chief Mohd Tinggal and members of the media.
