“Friendship Bridge” linking Tudan And Desa Pujut To Be Upgraded To Concrete Bridge

20.06.2015--Under the diligent effort and assistance of Majulah Miri founder Dato Hii King Chiong, the two-lane Bailey bridge linking Tudan Phase 5 and Desa Pujut Phase 2 will soon be upgraded once more to a concrete bridge so that the villagers can enjoy better infrastructure.

Hii returned to the site together with his team members today and announced the good news to the villagers. Tudan villagers invited Hii to officiate a ceremony to launch the construction of the concrete bridge and also put up a ‘Thank You’ signboard by the bridge to show their gratitude to him.

The Bailey bridge which brought convenience to residents of the two areas was officially opened on 22 June 2013. During that year, Hii King Chiong Service Centre (HKCSC) received the request from the villagers and immediately took all necessary actions to make the construction a reality.

Prior to that, Tudan Phase 5 and Desa Pujut Phase 2 was linked by a 30-metre small wooden bridge that could only accommodate pedestrians and motorcycles. Motorists had to use Lutong Highway to reach Desa Pujut area which was very inconvenient.

In order to provide villagers with the convenience of a direct route, Majulah Miri made serious efforts and successfully reached agreement with residents of the two areas and the relevant authorities to construct a Bailey bridge as a temporary measure with plan for upgrade to a concrete bridge.

During that time, Majulah Miri also upgraded a half kilometre road and road lights were installed after the road expansion so that residents could enjoy better road infrastructure.

Hii was very pleased with the upgrade to concrete bridge and hoped users would cherish the hard-earned “Friendship Bridge” (official name being Tudan Unity Bridge).

To reduce thefts and accidents, Majulah Miri also assisted to clear weeds on the sides of the path. Apart from improving the living environment of the two areas, the clearer visibility would also help to curb crimes in the area.

Hii was grateful for the support and assistance of all relevant parties who worked together to make the upgrade a reality for the benefit of the people. He hoped residents of both areas would continue to help one another and foster the spirit of 1Malaysia.
